June 10, 2015 (Honolulu, HI) – Brad Hagadone, president of the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho-based, Hagadone Corporation, announced several leadership changes today.
Stan Mulkey, publisher of This Week Magazines, is retiring after more than 27 years with the Hagadone-owned magazine company. In addition to publishing This Week Magazines on four islands, Mulkey founded several major magazines in Hawaii, including the Ala Moana Shopping Magazine, Pearlridge Magazine and Pleasant Hawaii Magazine. During his tenure, Mulkey was awarded the American Advertising Federation-Hawaii’s prestigious PELE Award for Media Person of the Year, and he is a past president of the Hawaii Publishers Association. He was also heavily involved with Sales and Marketing Executives International.
In addition to sharing the news about Mulkey, Hagadone shared some additional changes to the Hawaii operation. “We are proud of our Hawaii companies. Clint Schroeder, president of the Hagadone Printing Company, will step up to lead the Hagadone Corporation’s Hawaii holdings as president and chief operating officer. Schroeder has been with the Hagadone team for 5 years, after serving as vice president of sales and marketing for the former Honolulu Advertiser; he moved to Hawaii in 2005 with the Gannett Company. Schroeder has more than 20 years of experience in the printing, publishing and media industries. He is also heavily involved in the community, serving on numerous Hawaii boards, charities and community associations. Schroeder is most widely known for his work with Rotary International and the Hawaii Rotary District 5000. He will assume the role of District Governor 2016-17 in July 2016.
Jointly, Schroeder and Hagadone announced the appointment of Craig Furuya, associate publisher of This Week Magazines, to his new post as vice president and publisher of Hagadone’s Hawaii publications division, including This Week Magazines and other market publications. Furuya has been on the Hagadone team since 1998, serving in various roles. Furuya is also the current president of the Hawaii Publisher’s Association, president of the University of Oregon Alumni Association Hawaii Chapter, and has volunteered his time and talent for many Hawaii organizations and charities. Schroeder said, “Craig is exactly the kind of dynamic leader that we need to take our publications division to the next level. He is creative, driven, and client-centric. Finding comprehensive client solutions, both in print and online, is Craig’s strength, and I am honored to have him on the executive team.” Furuya’s appointment is effective immediately.
Edwin Chung, vice president of finance for Hagadone Hawaii holdings, joins Schroeder and Furuya on the Hawaii executive leadership team.“Edwin’s financial expertise and unparalleled strategic abilities bring a perfect balance to our executive team.
