The HP Indigo 5500 has the highest quality output of any digital press on the market today. Color integrity is especially apparent in skin tones and flat screen builds.

Offering the the best four-color process reproduction, the Indi has the ability to use a 6/C proprietary process called IndiChrome, employing additional orange and violet inks, to reproduce a wider color gamut.

  • Standard configuration is 4/C or 6/C.
  • PMS reproduction in process colors is closer than others.
  • Spot PMS inks can be special-ordered.
  • Special effect transparent inks can be ordered.

Speed: 2,000 13 x 19, 4/0 sheets per hour.
Output increases when less colors are used. 13 x 19, black & white, one side runs at 8,000, meaning a basic 8-1/2 x 11, black & white, one side copy can actually be produced at 16,000 per hour after cutting.

Ink: Uses HP liquid ElectroInk technology, not dry plastic toner. Liquid inks are transparent, similar to conventional offset press inks. Liquid ink thickness is one to two microns, similar to offset inks (one micron), and not as thick as dry plastic toner, at four to five microns.

  • Liquid ink has less cracking than dry toner.
  • HP ElectroInk is environmentally-friendly.

Color Stability: The Indi incorporates an in-line densitometer that measures color of every sheet and compensates on the fly.

Substrates: The Indi has higher-than-average flexibility to accept different stocks. We offer a diversified stock library and be willing to experiment with other stocks as requested.
